This 375 sq.ft. studio apartment is located on an elevated ground floor (
up 4 steps ) and is a bright and cheerful, newly renovated property.
There is a double bed and an extra single fold out sofa-bed and the
bathroom has a shower. There is a separate full kitchen and the
apartment also comes with a washing machine, TV and CD player. The owner
will greet you on arrival and show you how everything works and give you
the keys to the property. The locals refer to this neighborhood as the
‘Monti’ as it is the highest of Rome’s seven hills. This is an
interesting mixed neighborhood and a true hidden treasure of Rome. The
government and the Vatican own many of the buildings in the
neighborhood, which are mainly used as offices and convents. There are
guards on duty in front of some government buildings twenty-four hours a
day. For this reason the neighborhood is very quiet and safe. There is
also good transport from here, with 2 metro stops just a 5 minute walk
from the home and you also have very easy access to the nearby Termini
train station. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants within walking distance from
the home and the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore is in this district
and well worth a visit. It is also a short walk, about five to ten
minutes to some of the most famous historical sites in the city, such as
the Colosseum, Forum and the ancient Palatine hill. The Palatine is a
dramatic venue best enjoyed early in the morning before most other
tourists arrive.
